Perhaps a few more diagrams would have helped, but being honest, that is a minor quibble, because where diagrams are not included, there is almost always a reference to a place where you can find one online. There are also a couple of occasions where I began to suspect that the author might be some kind of rabid eco-warrior, but given the quality of the information in the book, that is excusable.

Good points
The best thing about this book is the fact that it makes it clear that a lot of things that many of us might believe to be difficult are in fact simple. For example, building and installing your own solar power generation system is far simpler than you would ever imagine when you have detailed, step by step instructions that show you exactly how to do it.

There is a great deal of emphasis on just how much money you can save simply by adopting straightforward, common-sense (but all too rarely practiced) tactics for cutting down the fuel you burn in both your home and in your vehicle. And it is all made so easy, with an extensive use of screenshots, illustrations and diagrams, that I think a ten year old child would, firstly, understand why they should be cutting down on power waste and, secondly, if they followed the instructions here, be able to do it too!

With plenty of helpful diagrams and illustrations, I would suspect on first reading that this is the step-by-step guide which anyone with a modicum of common sense can and will follow.

Bad points…
If you already have any experience in things like installing your own solar or wind powered electricity generating systems, then the book might be a little too basic for you, as it is primarily designed for beginners. And, while the primary focus of the book is on reducing your reliance on electricity produced by burning irreplaceable fossil fuels, it could perhaps add a few more to the list of half a dozen or so tips for saving electricity immediately.

Good points…
This is an extremely easy to follow and immensely practical guide to how you can reduce and then perhaps eliminate your reliance on main power grid electricity. It goes into great, step-by-step details of exactly how you can build your own power generation systems at a fraction of the cost that you will be charged by a commercial company to do so, reducing the amount of time it takes before you start making a profit from your efforts.

In every section of the book, there are many excellent online resources included, all of which expand and clarify the information contained inside the instructions themselves, so that no-one who reads it should be in any doubt as to how things work.

The guide is written in plain English and includes instructions and step by step guides. it claims anyone can use them even a 15-year old kid. You can use this system to power up basically any appliance you have in your home: fridge, washing machine, computer, TVs, lights.

Moreover, you can even take this with yourself when you go camping, because it’s highly portable.

By including a section on how you can save on fuel bills for your truck or automobile, the book also expands the idea of cutting down on your fuel expenses outside the home in an extremely clear and easily understandable way.

My overwhelming recollection after reading this book for the first time was the number of times that I found myself thinking ‘wow, so obvious, but I never thought of it before!’ It is that kind of book – simple, straightforward, practical, and all written in a very appealing, common sense manner.

Bad points…
There are a couple of places in the book where I perhaps felt that the writer could have gone into a little more detail, but, at the same time, I do understand that the amount of detail you want is probably dependent upon your own technical abilities and skills. Nevertheless, for me personally, a little more description of the ‘why’ as opposed to the ‘how’ would not have gone amiss.

Good points…
This is a perfect step-by-step instruction manual for any beginner who understands that they should reduce the amount of electricity they waste, but does not really know how to go about doing so. The sections on building your own home based power generation system are excellent, with a great deal of detail and explanatory pictures and diagrams to back up the written information.
This is a book that I genuinely believe anyone could follow. It is one that makes the whole idea of saving fuel, using cleaner, inexhaustible sources of power and saving money all at the same time sound like a great deal of fun, and that is bound to make it easier to follow too.
